This car is not a kit car or a recreation. This is a completely new and independent automobile. Four guys from the Technical University of Munich have made their dream come true. Sure, they had strong support, but to create an own vehicle, is a lot more than an idea and support. This only can happen when you have an absolute passion for the best way of moving.
This car is a roadster, with a passenger cell made out of carbon fiber composite material. The front and rear section is an aluminium space-frame construction, but more important is the design, it is an absolute masterpiece.
The two-seater roadster has a mid-engine, which releases its power to the rear axle. For the beginning there will be a five-cylinder turbo with up to 400 hp available. It is shifted via a manual six-speed gearbox. An optional limited slip differential at the rear axle provides traction. Thanks to a consistent lightweight construction, the power/weight relation of the Roding roadster is estimated at 3 kg / 1 hp.
In order for being a real Roadster the roof must be open to the sky. In addition to the 3.90 meter long, 1.85 meters wide and only 1.19 meters high Roding the car has two removable roof shells, and the trunk is has also enough room for a golf bag.
The Roding gets produced beginning in August 2010 in a small series.
